Blackpink has been in the news for their involvement in a controversy surrounding their participation in the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA). On November 18th, Blackpink fans noticed that their Telegram group links had been changed to an unknown URL. The links redirected to a website that appeared to be affiliated with North Korea. The website contained a message from the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, which stated that the group was an “artistic achievement” and praised JYP Entertainment for giving them a chance to perform in North Korea.
Shortly after this revelation came about, Blackpink's Twitter and Instagram accounts were also taken down. JYP Entertainment has yet to make any statements about the situation, but as more information comes out it seems likely that they will face repercussions from both fans and authorities a like.
